Karen Endel – Principal, Butterfield Trail MS, Van Buren School District (AR)

Karen, is in her 36th year of education and is proud of her campus for being recognized by her state for “Beating The Odds” in MATH & ELA in 2018.  Butterfield Trail MS serves a high socio-economically disadvantaged student population, but a culture of improvement has been key to their success.

Earning her National Board prior to becoming a Campus Leader, that experience largely influenced her decision to make video central to Butterfield’s conversations around Teaching & Learning.

 

James Payne – Principal, Liberty Point Elementary School, Fulton County Schools (GA)

A native of Adel, Georgia, James has served in education for 11 years.  As principal of Liberty Point Elementary, James led efforts that have caused his campus to successfully be removed from Georgia’s Failing Schools List (rising from an F to C Grade).  James’ first experience using video for classroom observations occurred while supporting the research conducted by the Harvard Best Foot Forward Project in 2014.

 

 

Joseph L. Salley – Principal, Kimberly Elementary, Atlanta Public Schools (GA)

An Experienced Turnaround Principal, Joseph is in the middle of his 22nd year in Education.  Under his leadership, Kimberly Elementary was recently recognized for “Beating The Odds” and consequently removed from Georgia’s Failing Schools List.  Joe is a graduate of “Harvard’s Turnaround Principal Academy” and has been an outstanding implementer of his video coaching & collaboration strategy.

 

 

Dion Rivera– Principal, Smith Elementary School, Magnolia ISD (TX)

A 13 year educator who rose from a Teacher to Principal at Smith Elementary School in Magnolia I.S.D.  Dion witnessed a transformation Smith Elementary accumulate all six of their designations from TEA. She credits the campus’ shift in culture from what was best for teachers to what’s best for instruction for their overall success.

“We cut out distractions that don’t lead to academic success.  Our culture of instruction and constant feedback and collaboration lead to continuous growth for our teachers and students.”
